Welcome to the world little one! Just in case you don't already know, you have two of the coolest parents EVER! Your Dad and I go way back. Ask him what "Da Goon" is when you learn to speak. Now you try your very hardest to sleep through the night so your Mom and Dad can get some shut eye. You're going to have a spectacular life, Jack. I can't wait to meet you. =) Love, Mer

Well Jack. You're my second nephew. But you share the same spot with Thomas in my heart. True, I may seem scared to hold you and I'm afraid of your poops and such BUT I'm telling you I'll get better at this aunt job. Speaking of jobs, I think you're doing a splendid job on conjuring up a fart or two!
But, I want to let you know that you have a big big family that will always be here for you. And when you get older, you might get mad at your parents (especially in those cursed teen years.) But do remember, your mom is the one of the kindest bravest people I know. And you're dad...well you're dad's just funny up to yin yang and he's got a good heart. And I will be the coolest aunt. I can guarantee that. Cuz see, l'll always be the youngest aunt who will have you star in my home made movies. And I'll let you do whatever you want (don't tell your mom). Maybe when you're older and we still live in this insanely broing city, I can find some cool stuff to do. Like go to the late night pitch and puck and cruise for the 4H babes. Throw stuff off a bridge. COW TIPPING!!! Oh yes. Don't forget, that even though Taylor and Ben are gonna teach you to surf, I will teach you the ropes of the court....basketball court that is. And when you hang out with me, Weezer will soon become you're favorite band and you'll know movie lines from every possible film. And then you will soon be a great Guitarist slash basketball player slash surfer, and you will bust outta Morgan Hill. And you'll be a genius and be da PIMP yo. And people will want your autograph...AND....oh look I've gone cross eyed.
But seriously, no matter which path you choose in life, I'll be right behind you cuz I love ya more than my luggage!!!
REASON#2 I'll BE THE COOLEST RELATIVE: I wrote the longest post messgae so far!!!
Yea, baby yea!

Wow, everyone is so glad you are finally here! I met your Mom when she
was eleven years old. Seems like a long time ago, but somehow, despite
losing touch for a while, we have managed to remain friends all this
time. You have an amazing Mommy and countless numbers of people who
love you. I wish you happiness and friendship in the years to come.

Jack, may I borrow some of all this love you're getting? MY family left me out of the greeting, so here's mine: I am enjoying sneaking peeks of you when my boss isn't looking. My co-workers affectionately named the one of you and your dad and uncles "3 Men and a Baby". I look forward to seeing you in person on Dec. 24.

Hey guys!! Hi Jack!! Wow, you guys are parents now!! How exciting. I haven't seen you all since Uncle Benny's little birthday dinner but I know that you are all doing well. I have to admit, I was skeptical when Ben said you had a really cute newborn, newborns are never cute, but Jack is one very cute baby!! Hopefully I will get to see him sometime.

Welcome, Jack! You're a handsome little dude, just like the rest of the Shellen boys. Congratulations to the proud parents and grandparents from another one of the Michigan Shellen's. From reading all these notes, it looks like you'll be busy for the next few years, but when you get a chance it sure would be nice to see you in person. See if you can convince Mom and Dad to bring you to Michigan some time. Best Wishes from Dave, Vicki, Matthew, and Brandon

Little Jack! You have no idea how excited I’ve been waiting for you to pop out. I’m your Uncle Ben, and the phrase you will hear your parents’ say to me most when we’re together is “Don’t teach him that!” I know you’ve had a busy 9 months, what with growing limbs and all. But I’ve got a lot planned for you. We’ll start off with easy stuff like Zurberts, and pretending you’re an airplane, we’ll progress to horsy rides and wrestling and then you’re Dad and I will teach you to surf. And next month will be even better! I love you very much Jack and look forward to all the great times to come!

Hello baby Jack. It is so nice to see how many people are excited about your arrival. But I have to say they can't be as happy as your Dad & me. It seems like we waited forever for you to get here & now that you are here I can't remember what it was like before. So even though you put me through the most painful experience of my life :), deprive me of my much needed sleep & give me worries I never even thought of always remember that I love you more than I ever thought I could love anyone. You are my angel, my perfect miracle & I love you with all my heart.

Taylor & Theresa, I can't tell you how sorry I am that I can't be there to congratulate you in person. Jack looks ADORABLE! You two have an absolutely perfect baby on your hands, and it couldn't have happened to more deserving parents. Theresa, I hope you're recovering nicely, and that both of you are enjoying the new addition to the family. All the best to the two of you, and the whole family [that includes Ben, of course]. Can't wait to come home and see little Jack with my own eyes.

This is Uncle Mark, or Cousin-Mark-Once-Removed, or something like that, we'll figure that out later.
Congratulations to the Parents and Grandparents. You have all apparently done a wonderfull job, so far. Especially you, Jack. I guess you brought a new meaning to the term March Madness for you mother (Go Indians).
Let's see, Jack... you will be needing a baseball glove, hockey stick, football, basketball with hoop on the drive-way, skis & poles, rollerblades, soccer ball, skateboard, mountain bike, and surf board. But I guess I am getting carried away, it's only March, you can start with a baseball glove for opening day next week.
We wish you love and happiness in everything that you do. Now, could one of you Shellens tell this branch of the family how to make a boy?

You have stolen the title of the youngest Shellen on the West Coast, and you are well-deserving. You are adorable- I guess this means that you have more of your mom's features, thank goodness! I can't wait to spoil you. I already bought you some ice cream, but then I realized you're probably too young for that, so I had to eat it. But I promise that as soon as you're old enough, I'll buy you all the ice cream you can eat. I love you!
