Formula BMW @ the San Jose Grand Prix

A few weeks back I had the chance to hang out with Team Autotecnica Formula BMW team while they did their qualifying laps for the San Jose Grand Prix. The average age of the drivers was about 16. Their parents spend an extraordinary amount of money to support their hobby or in the case of Agent Cody Banks, your own money. After witnessing a crash in one of the turns the parent of one driver smacked his forehead and exclaimed that it would be about $10K for the repair which would need to be performed that night. I'm hoping my kids take after their parents and take up swimming and cycling as hobbies. All around I had a great time though. I definitely recommend hanging out in an Indy car pit if you ever have the chance.
